Donald Arthur Wood

Donald Arthur Wood, 63, of 1995 N. Thorn Road, Walkerton, Indiana, passed away at 12:05 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2002, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center at Plymouth, Ind. Donald was born on May 9, 1939, in Hamlet, Ind., to the late Bush U. and Verdia A. (Whitmer) Wood.

On June 12, 1976, Donald married the former Donna Kay Schmeltz, who survives. Donald is survived by two sisters, Iris Kring of Plymouth, Ind., and Rose Ellen Schutz of Bremen, Ind.; two brothers, Larry Wood of Fish Lake, Ind., and Warren Wood of Nineth, Ind. Donald was a steel mill worker, a member of United Steel Workers Local #6787 at Portage, Ind. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #741 at Plymouth, the Legion of the Moose, and was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1957-1959.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 6, in the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home in Walkerton. Services will be held in the funeral home 11 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2002. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery at Walkerton, Ind. Donald was preceded in death by a son, David Louis Wood; and two brothers, Bush Edward Wood and James J. Wood.
