MARION
E. "Woody" WOODCOX, 83, of 20047 W. Kern Road, died at 3:25 a.m. today in Medco
Health Care Center (formerly Ridgedale Nursing Home). Mr. Woodcox was born
October 20, 1901, in Rochester, Indiana and had lived in South Bend since
1922. On April 15, 1922, Rochester, he married the former MARY ORPHA
STEININGER, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, ETHEL MAE
STEPHENS, SYLVIA MITSCHELEN and PHYLLIS CRAIG, all of South Bend, and DONNA
PLATZ of Mishawaka; a son O. DEAN WOODCOX of South Bend; 24 grandchildren; 26
great-grandchildren; a sister, IDA BELLE SWANK of Rochester; and a brother
HUBERT, of South Bend.
Friends
may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 1201
S. Michigan Street.
Mr.s
Woodcox retired from the former Studebaker Corp. after 40 years. He was a
member of South Side Church of God, where he was one of the church
founders. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph County
Cancer Society or the church.
