Sister M. Charles Lucille Woltering CSC

Sister M. Charles Lucille (Lucille Ann Woltering), CSC, 75, was born in Quincy, Ill., to the late Carl and Gladys Tate Woltering. She is survived by her two sisters, Carlene Sawyer of Hannibal, Mo., and Marilyn Wagner of Camp Point, Ill. Sister is also survived by nephews and nieces.

Before entering the congregation, Sister M. Charles Lucille was a civilian administrative assistant in the Department of the Army, Office of the Quartermaster General, Military Planning Division. She was highly commended for her abilities.

Sister then entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1950, made her first profession in 1952, and final profession on Aug. 15, 1955. She began her education in Illinois and continued at Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, Ind., and the Army Finance School, Washington, D.C. She received her bachelor of arts degree in social psychology, summa cum laude, from Park College, Parkville, Mo. Over many years Sister Charles Lucille participated in numerous workshops and courses, acquiring certificates in data processing and accounting.

Sister's ministry began as office manager, St. John's Hospital, Anderson, Ind., 1952; comptroller, Our Saviour's Hospital, Jacksonville, Ill., 1959; comptroller, Saint Joseph's Hospital, South Bend, Ind., 1960; data processing supervisor, 1969, and administrative assistant, 1973, at Mount Carmel Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. For the Diocese of Columbus, Ohio, Sister was counselor for Catholic Social Services, alcohol and drug section; chief counselor adolescent center, Saint Anthony Medical Center, 1982, Columbus; and staff member in the alcohol and drug center, 1987, Mount Carmel Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. She was a member of the therapeutic/rehabilitative/mental health services, Shepherd Hill Hospital, Newark, Ohio, 1990. In 1993, Sister Charles Lucille was in Tompkinsville, Ky., working with the underserved of that area. In 2002 Sister retired to Rosary Convent-Saint Mary's, where she spent time companioning the sisters in Saint Mary's Convent. Sister will be missed. Wake services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, in Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 10, in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame. The Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
