July 8, 1914 - July 18, 1999

Morris M. Wolff, 85, passed away on Sunday, July 18, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind.

He was born in South Bend on July 8, 1914, to Edith (Davidson) and Arthur Wolff, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Bernard Wolff.

Morrie served in World War II and was stationed in Italy for 19 months. After serving in the war he returned to South Bend and opened his first business, South Bend Seat Cover Company. As times changed the business changed and he started to focus on electronics. The business was then called Wolfie's Tape Town and Morrie became the mayor of Tape Town. Along the way he also opened and operated the first billiards room in downtown South Bend and the Morel Car Wash. He retired from business in 1979.

Morrie was a devoted member of Sinai Synagogue, a Hadassah Associate, and was a member of the Elks Club. He was also a loyal supporter of philanthropic organizations.

In 1954 he married Eleanor Nathan. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Eleanor; three daughters, Barbara (Dr. Alan) Kaplan of Miami, Fla., Sherri (Dr. Ken Brocker) Wolff of Chicago, Ill., and Karen (Drew) Fleischer of South Bend; five grandchildren, Michelle Kaplan and Dr. Glenn Kaplan, both of Miami, Fla., Erica and Stefanie Fleischer of South Bend, and Jamie Brocker of Chicago.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 20, in Sinai Synagogue. Burial will follow in Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery. The Forest G. Hay Funeral Home will be handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Morrie to Sinai Synagogue or to the charity of donor's choice.
