Mrs. Ethel M. (Schott) Wolff, 95,
residing on West Rogers Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at
5:55 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, in the St. Joseph Care
Center-West. Mrs. Wolff retired in 1965 from the Bendix
Corporation after 14 years of service. She was born on Jan. 8,
1903, in Elkhart, Ind., and had been a lifelong resident of this
community.
In 1925 she married Herbert C. ''Peg'' Schott,
who preceded her in death. Then, in 1965, she married Erwin
Wolff, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death
by a daughter, JoAnn Shindledecker in 1997; and by a son,
Herbert Schott in 1977. She is survived by a daughter, June Batz
of South Bend; a stepson, Fred Wolff of Plymouth, Ind.; and seven
grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren;
13 step-great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson, Spencer; and
by two sisters, Verniel Kemnitz of Elkhart and Lucille Owens
of Indianapolis, Ind. Mrs. Wolff was a member of the Zion United
Church of Christ, was a 50-year member of Helena Rebekah Lodge 72
and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Patriarch Militant No. 9.
Services for Mrs. Wolff will be at 10 a.m.
on Friday in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue,
South Bend, with Rev. Dr. Alva Hohl, Jr., officiating. Burial
will follow in South Bend City Cemetery. Friends may call from 2
to 8 p.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home, where members of
Helena Rebekah Lodge 72 will conduct memorial services at 7 p.m.
Contributions may be made in Mrs. Wolff's memory to the Zion
United Church of Christ.
