Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, in St. Matthew Cathedral, South Bend, Ind., for John J. Wojtan, Jr., who died on Aug. 20. The funeral mass will be celebrated by the Most Reverend Daniel R. Jenky. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. Memorials may be made to St. Mary College, or the Orchard Lake Schools, at Orchard Lake, Mich., and/or the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn.
Mr. Wojtan was born on April 4, 1918 in Detroit, Mich. He lived in the Rosedale Park area of Detroit, and in Dearborn Heights, Mich. In 1973, he relocated to South Bend, Ind. He was the son of Catherine and John Wojtan, Sr. His parents preceded him in death in 1971 and 1982. He was married to Thelma Wojtan in May 1955, in Detroit. She preceded him in death on Feb. 27, 1988.
He retired from A. M. General Corp., in 1983, after 10 years of service. At A.M. General, he was manager of transportation. He was formerly employed by the Cadillac Motor Division and the General Motors Corporation where he was traffic manager. He was a member of the Mishawaka Knight of Columbus, Council #1878, and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus member of the Father Nieuwland Assembly. He was also a member of the Elkhart Moose #599, a life member of the American Legion Post #50, a life member of the Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Fraternity, Michigan Chapter #125, and the Motor City Traffic Club of Detroit. He was an Interstate Commerce Practitioner.
Survivors include his sister, Cecilia (Henry) Bachorski of Redford, Mich., his brother, Edward W. (Jane) Wojtan of Livonia, Mich., a stepdaughter, Audrey (Robert) Williams of Novi, Mich., and a stepson, Gordon Paglione of Clinton Township, Mich.
