Maxine L. Witter, 74, of Willow Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away of natural causes at 2:20 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 1, in St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka. Maxine was born on Oct. 20, 1923, in Mishawaka, to the late Harry and Lula Stanley.

On Sept. 16, 1944, as Maxine L. Stanley, she married Carol Burch in Mishawaka. He preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1973. She then married John L. Witter in Mishawaka on Sept. 24, 1977. He also preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 1997. Maxine is survived by two daughters, Linda L. Young and Amy J. Marvel, both of Mishawaka; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eleanor DeCloedt and Betty Shide, both of Mishawaka; and by two brothers, James Stanley and Jerry Stanley, both of California. Maxine was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Auxiliary 360, Mishawaka, and the Eagles Lodge 2083, Mishawaka.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the Bubb Chapel, with Rev. Ervin Mize officiating. Burial will take place in the Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
