Carl Robert Wittendorf Sr.

Carl Robert Wittendorf Sr., 75, of Constantine, Mich., passed away June 6, 2006, in the Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, MI.
He was born in Chicago, Ill., on April 3, 1931, the son of George and Anna (Arbanas) Wittendorf. Carl graduated from Kelly High School in Chicago, Glen Oaks Community College, and received his teaching degree from Western Michigan University. He served in the U.S. Marines following high school.
On May 12, 1956, he married Norma Ridener in Chicago, Ill. Carl worked as a drafting engineer at Ross Labs in Sturgis, Mich., for 13 years, retiring in 1996. Carl also taught 3rd grade in Constantine from 1975 to 1978.
He was a member of the Constantine School Board in the late 60s, and enjoyed golfing and sports. He was especially fond of Constantine Athletics and the Chicago Cubs and Bears.
Surviving are his wife, Norma of Constantine; son, Carl R. (Diane) Wittendorf Jr. of Granger, Ind.; daughter, Cathy (Don) Miller of New Paris, IN; son, James (Cindie) Wittendorf of Granger, Ind.; and daughter, Kelly (Woody) McGrew of Dacono, Colo.; 15 grandchildren, Eden, Christian and Charity Wittendorf, Katelynn, Adam, Megan and Emily Miller, Nicholas, Sydney, Carter and Cameron Wittendorf, Frank Bartow, Brittany, Brandy and Bradley McGrew; sisters, Virginia Hulesberg of Bartlett, Ill., and Joan (Don) Cygan of LeMont, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Wittendorf; and sisters, Florence Wittendorf and Shirley Mostardo.
Relatives and friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the Eley Funeral Home, Constantine. Religious services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 9, in the funeral home, with Pastor Mark Pope, Vineyard Community Church, Mishawaka, officiating.
Interment will be at the Constantine Cemetery.
