SOUTH BEND - Marian Virginia Winenger, 90, of Westerville,
OH, formerly of South Bend, IN, passed away at 12:02 a.m. Monday,
January 14, 2008, in Columbus Elderly Care, Westerville, OH.
Marian was born on August 28, 1917, in South Bend, IN, to Carl
and Cora (Nickels) Bergman.
On August 3, 1940, in South Bend, IN, she
married Harold Arthur Winenger, who passed away on April 30,
2007. Mrs. Winenger is survived by a daughter, Susan (David) Butler
of Wauseon, OH; three sons, Thomas (Virginia) Winenger of
Westerville, OH, Robert (Tamara) Winenger of South Bend, IN, and
Harold Winenger Jr. of South Bend, IN; 11 grandchildren,
Christine (Brian) Kenney of Brunswick, OH, Thomas Winenger
Jr. of New Bern, NC, Douglas Winenger of Westerville, OH, Randi
Winenger of Columbus, OH, Robin Winenger of Lisbon, OH, Stephen
Winenger of Bloomington, IN, Scott, Elyse and Elayna Winenger of
South Bend, IN, Patti Butler of Mt. Vernon, IL, and William
Butler of Jacksonville, NC; four great-grandchildren, James,
Michaela and Justin Kenney of Brunswick, OH, and Jaysen Butler of
Jacksonville, NC. Mrs. Winenger was preceded in death by two
brothers, Howard and Robert Bergman.
Mrs. Winenger graduated from South Bend
Central High School. She worked for the U.S. Rubber Company (Ball
Band) and the South Bend Toy Company until her husband returned
from WWII and they started a family. Mrs. Winenger and her
husband were members of the South Bend Turners Club for many
years. She attended the First Baptist Church in Wauseon, OH. Mrs.
Winenger enjoyed bowling and playing cards.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.
Saturday, January 19, 2008, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger
Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend, IN. Reverend Ron
Shipley will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow
at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00
to 8:00 P.M. today, January 18, in the funeral home.
