SOUTH BEND -- Harold Arthur Winenger,
91, of Westerville, OH, formerly of South Bend, IN, passed away
at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2007, in Columbus Colony Elderly
Care, Westerville, OH. He was born on January 30, 1916, in South
Bend, IN, to Raymond and Esther (Kuss) Winenger.
On August 3, 1940, in South Bend, IN, he
married the former Marian Virginia Bergman, who survives.
Mr. Winenger is also survived by a daughter, Susan (David) Butler
of Wauseon, OH; three sons, Thomas R. (Virginia) Winenger of
Westerville, OH, Robert (Tamara) Winenger of South Bend, IN, and
Harold Winenger Jr. of South Bend, IN; 11 grandchildren,
Christine (Brian) Kenney of Brunswick, OH, Thomas Jr. and
Douglas Winenger of Westerville, OH, Randi and Robin Winenger of
Columbus, OH, Stephen Winenger of Bloomington, IN, Scott, Elyse
and Elayna Winenger of South Bend, IN, Patti Butler of Mt.
Vernon, IL, and William Butler of Jacksonville, NC; three
great-grandchildren, James, Michaela and Justin Kenney of
Brunswick. OH; and a sister, June Amm of South Bend, IN.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Engle, and by
a brother, Wilber Winenger.
Mr. Winenger attended Riley High School. He
was honorably discharged from the Army in 1946 after serving his
country in Europe during World War II. Mr. Winenger retired in
January 1980 after being employed for over 50 years at South Bend
Toy Manufacturing Company where he was the foreman of the
woodworking department. He was a member of the South Bend Turners
Club and the Independent Order of ODD Fellows. He also attended
the 1st Baptist Church, Wauseon, OH. Mr. Winenger loved to bowl,
golf, fish and play cards.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.
Saturday, May 5, 2007, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger
Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN. Rev. Ron Shipley
will officiate. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South
Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. today,
May 4, 2007, in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of
