SOUTH BEND - Ellsworth R. Windhorst,
79, of Twyckenham Drive, died about noon Monday in the home of
his son in Chicago after an illness. Mr. Windhorst retired in
1979 from AT & T. He was born Oct. 11, 1914, in Greenfield,
Ind., and lived in South Bend since 1946.
On July 16, 1940, in Greenburg, Pa., he
married Louise Geiger. She survives, with a daughter, Mary
Lehman of Elkhart; a son, Edward of Chicago; three
step-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruby Easley of
Greenwood, Ind., and Edith Freeland of Oaklandon, Ind. He
was a member of Telephone Pioneers and was an amateur radio
operator.
Friends may call from 11 to noon Thursday in the chapel of St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Burial will follow. Welsheimer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
