SOUTH BEND - William H. "Bill" Wilson, 84,
passed away Sunday, July 8. He is survived by his loving wife,
Patricia. Bill was born in Chicago on April 3, 1923, to John Earl
and Frances Brett Wilson. He graduated from St. Mel's High
School and Loyola University, Chicago. Bill served in World War
II in the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division and received a Bronze
Star for his valor in Italy.
In September 1948 he married Elizabeth Englehart,
who passed away in 1994 in South Bend. Their two children,
Deborah (Michael) Cronin and William D. "Dan"
Michelle) Wilson survive Bill, as well as eight grandchildren,
Michaela (Geoff) Schultz, Daniel, Brett, Cal and Delia
Cronin, and Michael, Mark and Trish Wilson. In 1996 Bill married
Patricia (Odor) Jachimak and they enjoyed their
travels and grandchildren together. Also surviving Bill are his
sister and brothers, Mary Frances Shannon, John E. Wilson,
Paul E. Wilson and their families, his father-in-law, Oscar Odor,
and Pat's four daughters, Kathy (Doug) Rodick, Pam (John) Lauer,
Debbie (Chris) Vascil and Jimm (Kurt) Sells, as
well as Pat's nine grandchildren, Kristin (Zach) Oles,
Brian and Lauren Rodick, Andrew and Paige Lauer, Melissa
and Miranda Vascil, Michael and Kelli Sells.
To the end, Bill retained his love of music
and sports, and his wonderful sense of humor. Bill worked for the
Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for over 35 years, ending his
career as the district manager for Northern Indiana.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in St.
Anthony dePadua Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph
Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m.
Friday in the McGann Hay, University Chapel on Edison Road.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's
choice.
