SOUTH BEND - Robert L. Wilson, 69, of
2522 Woodmont Drive, died at 2:19 a.m. Sunday in Memorial
Hospital of natural causes. Mr. Wilson was employed by Studebaker
Corp. in the engineering department from 1946 to 1966 and retired
in 1989 from Motor Vehicles Manufacturers Association, Detroit.
He was born Sept. 19, 1924, in South Bend.
On Aug. 16, 1945, in San Marcus, Texas, he
married Virginia Anne Rudduck. She survives with a
daughter, Kathleen Wilson of South Bend; a son, Wayne D. of Ann
Arbor; three grandchildren; and a sister, Jean McLaughlin
of San Bernardino, Calif. He was a veteran of World War II and
was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 675,
American Legion Post 303, American Automobile Manufacturers
Association, was a former substitute teacher for the South Bend
Community School Corp., and participated in developing the first
draft of the U.S. Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday in
Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive. Burial will be
in Riverview Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorial
contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
