SOUTH BEND - Ray H. Williams, 72, of South Bend, passed away at 4
p.m. Wednesday, January 13th, in Fountainview Nursing Center,
Mishawaka, after an extended illness. Mr. Williams was born on
February 14, 1937, in Ronceverte, West Virginia, and had resided
in the South Bend area since 1981, coming from Terre Haute, IN.
He is survived by three daughters, Kelly L. Haggerty of Belmont,
CA, Beth E. (Vic) Vazquez of South Bend and Ann S. Mackey of
Naples, FL; a son, Timothy R. (Donna) Williams of South Bend.
Also four grandchildren and a great-grandchild, and a sister,
Betty (Herb) Holly of West Virginia. He was preceded in death by
his parents, James Edward and Glenna (Hess) Williams. Mr.
Williams retired from the University of Notre Dame as a security
officer. Ray was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard and
was proud to have served his country. Mr. Williams cared dearly
for the homeless and ask his family, in care of all memorials,
please make memorial contributions to the Center for the
Homeless, 813 South Michigan Street, South Bend, IN 46601. There
will be no visitation or services; Ray's wishes were to be
cremated which his family honored. The HANLEY & Sons
"Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West
Ireland Road/Indiana 23, South Bend, handled arrangements and
extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the family.
