SOUTH BEND - Maxine R. Williams, 85, of South Bend, IN,
passed away at 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2008, in the Cardinal
Nursing Home, South Bend. She was a homemaker most of her life
and worked for three years at the South Bend Court House in
Probate Court. She was born on February 3, 1923, in East Grand
Rapids, MI, to Harry Frederick and Gayle (Travis) Dailey.
On June 20, 1942, in Seattle, WA, she
married Harry Earl Williams, who preceded her in death on
December 31, 1993. Maxine had lived in South Bend for the past 61
years. Mrs. Williams is survived by two daughters, Sharon L. Menczynski
and Betty D. (Gene) Klosinski, both of South Bend; four
sons, James E. (Terry) Williams of Lebanon, PA, Timothy A.
(Karin) Williams of Walpole, NH, Paul A. Williams of Elkhart and
Mark G. (Jacqueline) Williams of Mishawaka; 16 grandchildren, 18
great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Also
surviving are a sister, Judith Elifritz of South Bend; and
a brother, Harry (Mary) Dailey of South Bend. She was preceded in
death by a son, Robert Bruce Williams, and a brother, Charles
Dailey.
A private visitation will be held for Maxine
in the Palmer Funeral Home, South Bend, with cremation to follow.
Inurnment will take place at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal
Church. Maxine enjoyed her large family and loved spending time
with her grandchildren. She also loved dining out, nature, Lake
Michigan and being outdoors. The family requests that, in lieu of
flowers, contributions in memory of Maxine R. Williams be made to
