SOUTH BEND - Lester Williams, 75, loving father, grandfather,
great-grandfather, brother and resident of South Bend, IN, passed
away on Sunday at 9:50 a.m. in Saint Joseph Regional Medical
Center, Mishawaka, IN. Lester Williams was born to the union of
the late Floyd and Josephine Williams on February 17, 1934, in
Emmett, AR. On December 15, 1953, he relocated to Niles, MI,
where he married the former Norma Jean Brown. God blessed this
matrimonial partnership with five beautiful children to love and
nurture. They were unsung parents who sacrificed so much to
provide for their children's spiritual, economic and emotional
foundation. Mr. Williams pursued the employment network and
worked for many years at the Holland Construction Company from
which he retired in 1994. Mr. Williams personified the epitome of
God's creation by using his hands to beautify the earth by
gardening, landscaping and carpentry. His most memorable moments
will be cherished by three loving daughters, Bernice (Willie)
Council of Chicago, IL, Beatrice Williams of South Bend, IN, and
Paulette Taylor of Mishawaka; two sons, Daniel (Karla) Williams
of South Bend and Anthony (Letha) Brown of Mishawaka; 15
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Irene
Butler, Ruth Waites and Ola Virginia Brothers, all of Arkansas.
He also leaves to cherish precious memories a special relative,
Tommie Jean Peace, and special friends, Brian Beckwith and Brenda
Lary. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Geneva Grizzly,
and by three brothers, Jessie, Floyd and Leester Williams.
Friends may receive the family on Friday, February 5, 2010, from
11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home, 3535 S. Michigan
Street. Burial will take place immediately following at Coulter's
Chapel Cemetery, Niles, MI.
