John J. Williams
John J. Williams, 72, of 421 N. State, was dead on arrival at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Hospital after an unexpected illness in his home. He was taken to the hospital after an unexpected illness in his home. He was taken to the hospital by police in the city ambulance. Born in Delphi, Ind., Sept. 13, 1902, Williams had resided in Mishawaka since 1924, moving here from his birthplace. He was a 1965 retiree of Wheelabrator-Frye, inc. where he had been employed for 35 years.
Williams married the former Bertha M. Reed in St. Joseph, Mich., on Dec. 31, 1923. She died Dec. 12, 1971. Surviving are a son, William R. of Vandalia; four grandchildren' a great granddaughter; a sister, Mrs. Martha Wagoner, and two brothers, Russell and Everett Williams, all of Delphi. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, where friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today. Rev. John woodruff, assistant pastor of First United Methodist Church, will officiate, and burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
