SOUTH BEND - James Stephen Williams, 62, of South Bend,
Indiana, passed away peacefully in his home on November 1, 2008.
James was born December 4, 1946, in South Bend, the son of Al and
Katherine (Mikulay) Williams. He graduated from St. Joseph
High in 1965. The same year he joined the Air Force which he
retired from in 1987, with an honorable discharge at Travis Air
Force Base in California. James then moved to Las Vegas and
worked for Montgomery Wards home service repair and retired in
1996. He then moved back to South Bend in 2003. James was a very
active member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in South
Bend, very charitable, giving and kind hearted. He enjoyed
repairing appliances and cooking. He enjoyed many friends,
gardening, feeding wildlife and bowling. He had a great sense of
humor. During his service to his country, James developed test
equipment for medical machinery. Many of his inventions were
patented for the U.S. government. Surviving are his daughters,
Gwendolyn Kreie & Leslie (Richard) Gallup of
South Bend; grandchildren, Cassandra, Caralyne, Dylan &
Reese; and his brother, Fred Williams of Vandalia, Michigan.
Visitation will be held today from 4 to 8 PM, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, November 6, 2008, in the Westminster Presbyterian Church 1501 W. Cleveland Road, South Bend.
