Edgar Williams, Sr., 76, of Cross
Creek Drive, South Bend, Ind., formerly of San Diego, Calif.,
passed away of natural causes on, Wednesday, April 28, at Saint
Joseph's Regional Medical Center. Mr. Williams was born on Aug.
20, 1922, to Frank and Myrtle (Stevens) Williams in Deer
Creek, Ind. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents,
and by a brother, Clyde E. Williams, Sr.
On Oct. 2, 1943, Mr. Williams married
Kathryn Warner in Mishawaka, Ind. She survives. He is also
survived by their three children, Edgar Williams, Jr., and his
wife Karen of Granger, Ind., Diana Price and her husband
Don of Boulevard, Calif., and Mark Williams and his wife Evelyn
of Playa Del Rey, Calif.; two brothers, Everett Williams of South
Bend and Melvin Williams of Osceola, Ind.; a sister, Virginia
Buzalski of South Bend; and by eight grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.
Edgar graduated from Mishawaka High School,
and entered the U.S. Navy where he was the chief petty officer on
many submarines during his military career. After retiring from
the Navy after 20 years of service, Edgar became a letter-carrier
for the U.S. Post Office in San Diego. In 1979 he retired after
18 years of service. Mr. Williams was a member of VFW Post #624
in South Bend, American Legion Post #161 in Mishawaka, White
Eagle DAV #39 in South Bend, the Eagles Lodge #2083 in Mishawaka,
and was a member of the Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m.
today, April 30, at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, and services
will be conducted by Reverend David Hendricks the following day
at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
