Charles A. Williams, 67, of 921 Lawndale Ave died at 8 a.m.,
Sunday, in St. Joseph's Hospital after an illness of three weeks. He retired
from Uniroyal Inc., Mishawaka, where he had been a research chemist for 26
years. He was born August 13, 1905 in Ruby, MT. and lived here 31 years after
coming from Oregon. On July 23, 1928 he married Clementine M. Piechorowski, who
survives. Also surviving are his father Charles R., of Prineville, Ore; two
sons Robert J. of Mishawaka and John M of South Bend; three Daughters Rosemary
Toepp of South Bend, Carol Trusk of Mercer Island, Wa. and Susan Taylor of
Crafton, MD; 17 grandchildren and two sisters. Mrs Mary Dahler of Pineville and
Veronica Madison of Parkdale, Ore.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Kaniewski
& Sons Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross
Church with Rev. William J. Neidhart C.S.C. pastor officiating. The entoumbment
will be in Riverview Mausoleum. Williams was a graduate of the University of
Notre Dame in 1928 and a member of its Alumni Association. He was a member of
the American Chemical Society. He was a member of Council1878, third
degree Knights of Columbus and the fourth degree of the Father Nieuland
General Assembly of the Knights of Columbus, whose members will recite the
rosary at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday. A parish wake will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday in
the funeral home.
