Nellie B. Wiley, 100 years old,
residing on South St. Joseph Street, South Bend, Ind., passed
away at 1:05 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, in the home of her
granddaughter, Bonnie Cantrell, on Addison Street, South Bend.
She was born Aug. 17, 1902, in Pleasant Point, Ky., as the
daughter of Willis Green and Nancy Jane (Dishon) Routen,
and had lived in this area since 1929, coming from Lincoln Park,
Mich.
On June 24, 1919, in Pleasant Point, she
married Lucien Faulkner Sr., who passed away on Aug. 18,
1966. Then in 1971, she married Charles M. Wiley, who preceded
her in death on Nov. 11, 1986. She was also preceded in death by
a son, Lucien O. Faulkner Jr. in 1972; and by a grandson, Lucien
O. Faulkner in 1986.
Mrs. Wiley is survived by her son and
daughter-in-law, James Norman and Charlotte Faulkner of
Los Gatos, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Donna M. Hall of
Dayton, Nev.; stepdaughter, Martha Bell Knebel of South
Bend; eight grandchildren, Joel R. Faulkner of Boise, Idaho, Gale
A. Faulkner of Dayton, Dennis B. Faulkner of Virginia City, Nev.,
Bonnie J. Cantrell of South Bend, Becky S. Davis of
Dayton, Linda S. Lovison of Everson, Wash., John Faulkner
of Dana Point, Calif., and David Faulkner of Pacifica, Calif.;
two step-grandsons, David Knebel of Mishawaka and Randy (Linda)
Knebel of South Bend. Also surviving are 20 great-grandchildren
and eight great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wiley was a member of
Community Baptist Church in South Bend.
Memorials services will be held at 10 a.m.
Saturday, Sept. 14, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel,
3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. Rev. Sam Oliver, chaplain
for Hospice of St. Joseph County, will officiate. Burial will
take place at Southlawn Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
