SOUTH BEND - Hilda G. Wierschem, 95, passed away on
Sunday, July 27, 2008, at 2:20 p.m. in the Sanctuary at St.
Paul's. Hilda was born on November 10, 1912, in Chicago, IL, to
the late Herman and Phebe (Van Cleve) Wierschem. On April
l7, 1942, she married Armin T. Wierschem in Valmeyer, IL, who
preceded her in death on August 27, 2002. She was also preceded
in death by her brother, Lewis Palow, and by her sister,
Anna May Erickson. She is survived by her children, Mary
(Gene) Yarbrough of South Bend and Joseph Wierschem of
Minneapolis, MN; two grandchildren, Michael Yarbrough and Tami Bryant;
four great-grandchildren, Aaron, Cameron, Matthew and Carly; and
by her brother, H. Carl Palow of Peoria, IL. Hilda retired
as a piano teacher and was an avid gardener and a former active
member of the Legion of Mary. She was also a member of Holy
Family Catholic Church.
Visitation will be today, July 30, from 3:30
p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower
Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m.
Family and friends will gather in the funeral home at noon on
Thursday, July 31, for a final visitation before the Mass of
Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 1 p.m. in Holy
Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery,
South Bend.
