SOUTH BEND - Mariann A. Wieger, 89, passed away at 12:15
p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2008, in the Golden Living Center. Mariann
was born on July 28, 1918, in St. Paul, MN, to the late Stephen
and Mary (Koczan) Nagy. She was preceded in death
by her husband, Stephen F. Wieger, who died on July 19, 1968. She
was also preceded in death by a brother, Louis G. Nagy, and a
son-in-law, Claude Williams. Mariann is survived by two
daughters, Dorothy (Raymond) Trippel of Mishawaka and
Karol Williams of South Bend; a son, Steven (Julianna)
Wieger of South Bend; two grandsons, Michael (Cindy) Trippel and
Daniel (Lee) Trippel; two granddaughters, Dr. Julie Wieger and
Kristine (Matthew) Balding; and six great-grandchildren,
Benton Trippel, Michelle Trippel, Jaylen Williams, Megan
Trippel, Riana Balding and Reina Balding. Mariann was a member of
the St. Anne Society of Our Lady of Hungary Church and was a
charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the DFV German Club in
South Bend. She and her husband Steve managed the DFV German Club
in the early 1940s and helped bring in big name polka bands to
the area. She was employed by the University of Notre Dame and
retired from Krizmans Mfg. in Mishawaka. Mariann was a devoted
wife and mother who loved to have family around, especially her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mariann will be missed by
her family and the many friends she had made over the years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008, in Our Lady of
Hungary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the
Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will
be recited at 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the
church.
