SOUTH BEND - Private services for Robert W. Wicher, 85, of 19628 Gilmer St., who died at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Medical Center after an illness, took place today in Hanley & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be in Jackson, Wyo. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph County Hospice.

Mr. Wicher was a retired carpenter. He was born March 10, 1909 in Werne, Germany. On June 27, 1946, in Chicago, he married Mary E. Bernard. She died Aug. 22, 1985. Surviving are a daughter, Christine D. Forsyth of South Bend; two granddaughters; and a sister, Wanda Frickmann of Skokie, Ill. He was a member of Carpenter's Union Local 413.
