8, 1924 - Nov. 20, 2009GRANGER - Wilbur James "Will" Whittington, 85, of Granger, IN, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2009 in the Hospice House, South Bend. He was born on July 8, 1924 in Elkhart, IN, to the late Rose (Grobis) and Arthur Whittington. Wilbur was also preceded in death by a sister, Rosemarie Jensen. On November 27, 1971 in Granger he married Dina (Schmidt) Neitzel who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Michelle (Brian) Moen of Union, MI; two step sons, Brian (fiancée Tanya) Neitzel of Livonia, MI and Clark Neitzel of O'Fallon, IL; six grandchildren, Damon, Danielle, Nicholas, and Kristine Neitzel, Madison Moen and Hallee Ellefson; four great-grandchildren, Damien, Brendon, Abraham and Josh; a sister, Phyllis Poole of Goshen, IN; and a brother, John (Betty) Whittington of Elkhart, IN. Wilbur retired in 2000 from UMI Selmer where he was an instrument tester. He was a graduate of Concord High School in Elkhart. He enjoyed building and tinkering around the house. Services for Wilbur will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 23, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend, where friends may call from 9:30 until service time Monday. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. The family request that memorial contributions be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
