Sister Mary Esther Whitney CSC

A requiem high mass was chanted this morning in Saint Mary’s Convent Chapel for Sister Mary Esther CSC, who died in the convent Thursday morning. Friends may call in the convent parlors intil internment at 11 a.m. in the community cemetery.

She was born Mary Grace Whitney in Baltimore, Md. in 1870 and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1891, receiving the holy habit that same year, and making her profession of vows in 1897. She was stationed principally in the eastern province of the congregation, and taught music until illness forced her retirement a few years ago.
