MISHAWAKA - Dorothy Lynette Whitmore, 96, of Mishawaka, IN
died at 10:07 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2008, in St. Joseph
Regional Medical Center following a short illness. Mrs. Whitmore
was born January 31, 1912, in Mishawaka, to the late Lynn and
Mabel (Cuthbert) Perkins and returned to Mishawaka
following her retirement as a bookkeeper from General Motors in
Lansing, MI. She was married in Bremen, IN to Marvin Whitmore,
who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a
brother, Charles Perkins. She is survived a sister, Joyce Bornemann
of Mishawaka, IN; two nieces, Martha (Robert) Page of
Granger, IN and Kathy Sullivan of Kalamazoo, MI; three
nephews, Charles (Patsy) Perkins of Kalamazoo, Dennis Perkins of
Texas, and Phillip (Kathy) Bornemann of Ft. Wayne, IN; several
great nieces and nephews including Valerie Bartlett; and
several great-great-nieces and nephews including Ian Bartlett.
Mrs. Whitmore was an active member of Evangel Heights United
Methodist Church, where she loved the music and singing in the
choir. She was also active in the drama and singing activities at
her home in Waterford at Edison Lakes.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.
Saturday, September 20 in Evangel Heights United Methodist
Church, 114 N. Ironwood Dr., South Bend, IN, 46615 with Rev.
Patrick Somers officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph
Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. Friends may call from 3 to 8
p.m. today, September 19 in Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North,
17033 Cleveland Rd. Memorial contributions may be made to the
church.
