SOUTH BEND - Helen M. Whitlock, 82,
of Bremen Healthcare Center, formerly of 1021 N. Sherman St.,
died at 9:52 p.m. Friday in St. Joseph Hospital, Mishawaka. Mrs.
Whitlock retired in 1976 from Robertson's Department Store as a
bookkeeper in the credit department. She was born Aug. 20, 1911,
in Oklahoma City, Okla., and lived in South Bend most of her
life, coming from Gary.
On Aug. 27, 1932, in South Bend, as Helen Cramer,
she married J. Mark Whitlock. He died Oct. 2, 1962. She is
survived by a daughter, Nancy L. Keeler of Crosby, Texas;
a son, Jack of Carbondale, Ill.; six grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; a sister, Constance R. Valdez of
Lawrence, Ind. She was a founding member of Midland Academy of
Art, a member of South Bend Art Club, now associated with the
South Bend Art Center, and member of Avalon Grotto Auxiliary.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in
Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Burial will be at 10
a.m. Monday in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call two hours
before services in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may
be made to Snite Museum of Art, University of Notre Dame, Notre
Dame, Ind. 46556.
