Quinton W. Whitfield, 62, of 26422 Whippoorwill Drive, died at 2:30pm Wednesday in his home after suffering an apparent heart attack.  Mr. Whitfield retired in March as a test-equipment specialist at Bendix Corp. after 31 years service.

 

He was born November 17 1923, in Hopkins County KY, and had lived in South Bend the last 44 years.  On February 12, 1949, in South Bend, he married the former Lucinda M. Lewandowski, who survives.  Also surviving are a daughter, Renee Hochstetter of South Bend; two sons, Gary and Paul, both of South Bend; five brothers, Woodburn of Nortonville KY; Raymond G. of South Bend, Everett J. of Buchanan, Strother of Dana Point CA and Frank of Phoenix AZ; and his mother, Effie Pearl Whitfield of South Bend.

 

Services will be at 1:30pm Saturday in Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Friday in the funeral home.  Mr. Whitfield was a Navy veteran of World War II.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
