SOUTH BEND - Thelma White, 92, of South Bend, IN, passed away
from this life on Friday, March 5, 2010, in the Sanctuary at
Saint Joseph. Thelma was born on July 4, 1917, in Money, MS, to
Rev. Lawson (Emma) Hudson, and was the youngest of 16 children.
She later married Wilber White Sr. To this union 11 children were
born and they relocated to Memphis, TN (her husband and four
children preceded her in death). She lived several years in
Memphis and later relocated to South Bend, IN. Thelma confessed
Christ at an early age and united with the Second Baptist Church
under the leadership of the late Rev. Samuel Chase Jr. and
remained an active member under the current pastor, Rev. Andre
Wells Sr. until she entered the Sanctuary at Saint Joseph
(nursing home). She is survived by five daughters, Modena Clark
of South Bend, Edna Mae Davis, Mary Alice Parks and Loria Wilson,
all of Memphis, TN, and Avis Jean Hardy of Livermore, CA; two
sons, James Alfred White of Kansas City, KS, and Emmet Calvin
White of Martinez, CA. Also, several grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, great great great
grandchildren; cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of other
family members and friends near and far. A visitation will be
held a Friday, March 12th, from 11 a.m. in the Second Baptist
Church, 24828 Fillmore Road, with a funeral service to follow the
visitation at noon. The Rev. Andre Wells Sr. will officiate.
Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Clark O'Neal Funeral
Home has been entrusted with services.
