Roy A. White, 81, of Ford Street in South Bend, Ind., passed away on June 13, 1999 at 8:09 p.m. at St. Joseph Hospice House in South Bend, Ind. Roy was born on Aug. 5, 1917, in South Bend to Charles Henry and Sadie (Leister) White, who both preceded him in death.
On Nov. 8, 1941, in South Bend, at Holy Cross Church, he married Catherine R. Minder. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife; his daughters, Barbara (Ray) Loy of Mishawaka, Theresa Aldgrondo of Bisbee, Ariz., Judy Durden of Mary Esther, Fla., Helen (Wilbur) Santana of South Bend, Nancy (John) Wamser of South Bend, and Mary White of South Bend; sons, Joseph (Shirley) White of South Bend, Michael White of Niles, Walter White of South Bend, and Donald White of South Bend; brothers, Richard (Doris) White of Sebring, Fla. and Martin White of Mishawaka; a sister, Betty (Glen) Fetters of Sebring, Fla.; 27 grandchildren; and by 30 great-grandchildren. Roy was preceded in death by his sisters, Della Horner and Elizabeth White; and by his brothers, Noble, Vern, Art, Don, Walt, Max, Miles and Ernest White. Roy worked for Oliver Farm Equipment for 33 years and retired in 1975. He was a great husband and Dad and will be missed by all.
Friends may visit at Chapel Hill Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
