Kathryn E. White, 86, of Regency Place, formerly of Hollywood Place, South Bend, Ind., died at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, April 9, following an illness.

Mrs. White was born on Nov. 12, 1914, in South Bend, to William and Gertrude (Myers) Nichols, and had lived in South Bend her entire life. On Dec. 12, 1941, in South Bend, as Kathryn E. Nichols, she married Stanley J. White, who preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and by a sister, Doris Foreman.

She is survived by a daughter, Caroline S. (Clint) Cordell of Granger, Ind.; a son, Robert A. White of South Bend; four grandchildren, Kevin Van Zant of Toledo, Ohio, Scott (Stephanie) Van Zant of South Bend, Glen White of Niles, Mich., and Corey White of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; and by one great-grandson, Tyler Van Zant.

Mrs. White had been employed as a secretary for the former Walt's Delivery Service in South Bend for 10 years. She was a member of the South Bend American Turners and A.A.R.P. She spent many years enjoying fishing at Corey Lake near Jones, Mich., and loved to play cards, most recently playing poker with the residents at Regency Place

There will be no services or visitation. Cremation will take place at Michiana Crematory, with entombment at Riverview Cemetery to follow.
