Leonard Odell Whitaker

L. Odell Whitaker, 74, a resident of the Healthwin Specialized Care Facility for the last three years, died on Nov. 15 in the facility. Odell is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" (Perkins), whom he married in 1959; a sister, Hazel Alred of Siler City, N.C.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Whitaker of Dolton, Ill., and Audrey Whitaker of Osceola, Ind.; and by Betsy's brother, C. Ed Perkins of Bloomington, Ind.

A memorial service for Odell will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, in the chapel at First Presbyterian Church, South Bend, after which the family will receive friends in the parlor at the church. Entombment has already taken place at Riverview Mausoleum, South Bend. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 333 West Colfax, South Bend, IN 46601; or to the Healthwin Specialized Care Facility, 20531 Darden Road, South Bend, IN 46637.
