SOUTH BEND - Linda L. Geisthirt Wester, 73, passed away on
Friday, January 29, 2010, in the Sanctuary at St. Paul's. Linda
was born on August 25, 1936, in Madison, WI, to the late Arthur
F. and Laura (Veith) Geisthirt. On October 23, 1965, in South
Bend, Linda married Charles F. Wester, who passed away July 1,
2009. They resided at a home on Golfview for 39 years. She was
very fortunate to live a couple of houses down from her best
friend, Joan "Mama" Brugh. Also preceding her in death
were a brother, Arthur Geishirt Jr.; and sisters, Mamie (Marlin)
Hensler, Dolores (William) Stauffacher, Marjorie Geishirt and
Loretta Geishirt. Survivors include six children, Margaret
(Randy) Staszewski of South Bend, Donald (Lynne) Howard of South
Bend, Sharon Taber of Pace, FL, Laura Meller of Encore S.C.,
Therese Howard of South Bend and Shelley (Dennis) Anders of
Valparaiso, IN; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren;
and a brother, Ronald (Miyoko) Geishirt of Deerfield, WI. Linda
worked for the South Bend Community Schools in the cafeteria for
18 years before her retirement in 1997. Linda loved to play
cards, especially Euchre and Poker. She also enjoyed reading,
watching scary movies, needlepoint and crafts, and her two cats,
Cougar and Baby. Linda liked going to the Four Winds Casino,
playing Bingo and working crossword puzzles. She loved to go eat
at Angelos Restaurant, and enjoyed spending her summers off at
her Foxwood Hills Lake Cottage in Middlebury. Visitation will be
from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on
Tuesday, February 2, 2010, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E.
Ireland Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 pm. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday,
February 3, 2010, in St. Catherine of Siena Parish at St. Jude
Catholic Church, 19704 Johnson Road, South Bend. Burial will
follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Memorials for Linda may
be directed to the National Autism Association Northwest Indiana,
P.O. Box 216, Hobart, IN 46342. For those who are unable to
attend the funeral liturgy, condolences for the family may be
