Joseph Wentland, 68, of 638 E. Fairview Ave., died at 9:18 p.m. Friday in Michiana Community Hosital. He had retired from Bendix. He was born in South Bend on March 29, 1917, and lived in South Bend all his life. On Dec. 23, 1950, in South Bend, he married the former Bernice Ornat, who died on Oct. 17, 1979. He is survived by a brother, Benjamin of Allegan, Mich.; a niece; and a nephew

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 36 and an Army veteran of World War II
