Bertha Bernice Wentland (July 10, 1903 - Jan. 3, 2003)

Bertha Bernice Wentland, age 99, formerly of Johnson St., South Bend, died at 3:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend.

Bertha worked at Studebaker and Ball Band in her earlier years. She was born July 10, 1903, in South Bend to the late Stanley and Augusta Luczkowski and has been a lifelong area resident.

In May of 1923, Bertha married William F. Wentland who preceded her in death March 29, 1983

She is survived by two nephews, Richard (Rita) Luczkowski and Norbert (Harriet) Luczkowski of South Bend; and two nieces, Gloria Havener of South Bend and Lillian Luckey of Niles, Mich

Bertha is preceded in death by her adopted son, Chester; her sister-in-law, Clara Simpson; and five brothers, Frank, Roman, Andrew, and William Luczkowski and Albert Luckey

Funeral Services will take place Saturday, at noon Jan. 4, 2003, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 415 North Brookfield, South Bend, IN 46628. Rev. James Rigert will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to services at church. Bertha was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church where memorial contributions can be made.
