Mrs. Mary L. Wells, 85, dear grandmother, great-grandmother and sister of North Chestnut Street, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, Oct. 28, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. Mary was born to Robert and Virginia (Knights) Boyd on April 27, 1916, in Indianola, Miss. She moved to South Bend, Ind., in 1987, coming from Chicago, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Buster B. Wells; a daughter, Lillian Ford; a son, Benny Keathel; two sisters, Eliza Pierce and Virginia Trotter; and by three brothers, Wallace, Eugene and Lester Boyd. Mrs. Wells is survived by a sister, Susie Boyd of South Bend; a brother, John Boyd of Greenwood, Miss.; 13 grandchildren, Howard (Ella) Ford, Vera (Allen) Armstrong, Tonya (Daryl) Davis of Indianapolis, Ind., Gregory, Andre, Denise and Belinda Johnson, all of Peoria, Ill., Deborah, Allen, Dorothy, Lonnell and Donnell Walker, all of South Bend, and Antonio Spells; 32 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; and by other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, in Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will take place one hour before the service. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery.
