Gordon E. Weist, Jr., 59, died unexpectedly in his home Saturday July 6, 1996. He was employed for 37 years at Allied-Signal as a senior accountant. Mr. Weist was born on Feb. 6, 1937, in Mishawaka and was a lifelong area resident.

On Oct. 21, 1961, in South Bend, Ind., he married Beverly R. Farkas who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Deborah Murray of South Bend, Ind.; two sons, Gregory E. of Mishawaka, Ind.; and David J. of Merrillville, Ind.; his mother, Katherine Weist of South Bend; and three brothers, J. Daniel of Bay City, Mich., F. Peter of Indianapolis, Ind., and Michael G. of Portland, Ore.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Eric, in 1973 and his father, Gordon E. Weist, Sr. in 1992. Mr. Weist was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 553, St. Casimir Married Men's Club, Allied Signal Management Club where he served as treasurer. He was a charter member of the AES Golf Association where he served as a director, and was also on their bowling league. He attended the University of Cincinnati and served in the US Marine Corps.

Services were held at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial was in Highland Cemetery. The St. Casimir Married Men's Club conducted a rosary at 7 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus Council 553 conducted a rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
