SOUTH BEND - Virginia Mae Weiss, 78, of South Bend, passed
away Monday afternoon in Healthwin Specialized Care. She was born
November 16, 1929, in Redding, PA, to the late William and
Catherine Rothenberger Warner.
On August 3, 1957, in Mishawaka, she married
Lester Weiss, who survives along with her daughter, Amy (Allan) Gabrys
of Elgin, IL; and a son, Albert (Michelle) Weiss of Las Vegas,
NV; four grandchildren, Kristi, Becky, Andrew and Nikki Gabrys;
and one sister, Dorothy Warner of South Bend.
Virginia graduated from Mishawaka High
School and began her further education at Ball State University
where she received her degree in nursing in 1953. She also
graduated from St. Francis College in Joliet, IL, with a degree
in health arts. Mrs. Weiss worked in her profession for many
different hospitals in our area including Healthwin Hospital. She
and Lester were members of Christ the King Lutheran Church and
she was very active in the church. Virginia enjoyed quilting,
camping and Bible Study. She loved her children and was a
wonderful mother.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m.
today, February 15th, in Christ the King Lutheran Church, 17195
Cleveland Road, with Pastor Steven Schwier officiating. Burial
following cremation will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
Friends may visited with the family on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00
p.m. in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland
Road, and one hour prior to services on Friday in the church.
