SOUTH BEND - Richard P. Weissfuss Jr., 84, of South Bend, passed
away at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2010, in his home.
Richard was born on December 8, 1925, in Chicago, IL, to the late
Richard H. and Selma (Behlke) Weissfuss. He was also preceded in
death by his wife, Willa D. Cooper, who passed away June 2, 2002.
Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII
before becoming honorable discharged in 1946. Richard worked for
Bendix as a Crib Keeper for many years before retiring in 1982.
He was a lifetime member of the Elks of South Bend and was a
member of the Moose Lodge of Elkhart. He is survived by three
children, Rana (Michael) Witucki of Terre Haute, IN, Janice
Weissfuss of Dallas, TX, and Paula (Timothy) Butts of South Bend;
five grandchildren, Allison and Jacob Witucki and Elaine, Sabrina
and Melissa Butts. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley
(Robert) Engel of Florida. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00
p.m. Monday, January 25, 2010, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776
McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 2:00
p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2010, in the funeral home, with Rev.
Brian Borger officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill
Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Online condolences may be sent to the
