Irma Weisser

SOUTH BEND - Irma Weisser, 96, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was called by God on Sunday, Nov. 9, at 12:15 a.m. in the Healthwin Specialized Care Facility. Irma was born on February 7, 1912, in South Bend, to Joseph and Caroline Fuzy. On June 5, 1934, as Irma Fuzy, she married Karl C. Weisser, who died May 30, 2004. Irma had three sisters, Helen Spoo, Margaret Joosens and Sister Marietta Fuzy, and a brother, Joseph Fuzy, who all preceded her in death. Irma and Karl were married almost 70 years. She is survived by two sons, Carl (Marilyn) Weisser and Robert (Rosalie) Weisser, both of South Bend; seven grandchildren, Steve (Melissa) Weisser, Kim (Tim) Basker, John Weisser and Paul (Kim) Weisser, all of South Bend, Debbie (Charlie) Heintschel of San Diego, Greg (Tammy) Weisser of Granger and Stephanie (Jake) Lewis of Columbus, OH; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Weisser of South Bend. Irma was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church and its Sacred Heart & Rosary Society. She was a lifelong resident of South Bend. During her lifetime she loved to cook and bake. She was always trying new recipes. She loved for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren to visit with her and have something to eat that she had recently made. She will be missed by all of them.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue. Memorial contributions may be made to Healthwin Specialized Care, The Center for Hospice or to Our Lady of Hungary Church.
