In ill health for several months, Mrs. Opal La Dow Weinkauf, 64, of 1022 E, 4th St., died at 12:55 a.m. today in St. Josephs Hospital. She had been employed as a clerk in the St. Joseph county treasurers office, South Bend for several years until she retired in 1963.
She was born in Cass County, Indiana, Aug. 20, 1900 and came to Mishawaka from that county in 1910. As Opal La Dow she married Joseph B. Weinkauf in St. Josephs Catholic Church, June 18, 1919 and he died in October 1963.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph R. Weinkauf, of South Bend and Michael J. Weinkauf, of Mishawaka; three daughters, Mrs. John Gleissner and Mrs. Marie Williams, both of Mishawaka and Mrs. Gilbert Zimmerman, of Sacramento, Calif.; 31 grandchildren and four brothers, Byrl and Rex La Dow, of Mishawaka, Russell H. La Dow, of Kokomo, Ind., and Paul P. La Dow, of Elkhart.
Mrs. Weinkauf was a member of St. Josephs Church and Rosary Society of that church; the Catholic Order of Foresters; Daughters of Isabella, and the Mishawaka Penn Twp., Womens Democratic Club.
Friends may call in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Chapel after 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Mrs. Opal La Dow Weinkauf
Nephews of Mrs. Opal Weinkauf, 64, of 1022 E. 4th St., who died Tuesday, will be her pallbearers. They are Fred, Arthur, John, Alfred, Richard and Lee LaDow. Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in the St. Josephs Catholic Church. Very Rev. Msgr. Curt A. Suelzer, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in St. Josephs Cemetery.
Friends may call in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home and the rosary will be recited today at 7 p.m. by the Womens Catholic Order of Foresters, 7:30 p.m. by the Daughters of Isabella and 8 p.m. by members of the Rosary Society of St. Josephs Church.
