Kenneth Weinkauf, 83, of 17411 Starlite Drive, South Bend, Ind., died at 11:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, in Healthwin Hospital, after an illness.
Mr. Weinkauf was born in San Pierre, Ind., on Dec. 3, 1913. He graduated from high school and Butler University in Indiana. He was a resident of South Bend since 1940.
On June 9, 1946, Mr. Weinkauf married the former Betty Kelley in Mishawaka, Ind., who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Beverley Weinkauf of San Francisco, Calif., and Joann Germano of South Bend. Also surviving is one granddaughter.
Mr. Weinkauf retired in 1972 from Associates Corp. of North America as personnel administrator after 32 years of service. He opened the first zone office in Dallas, Texas, in 1946.
Mr. Weinkauf organized and served as president of the Assocoates ''A'' Alumni Club for 15 years. He was the activities chairman of the committee of ''60'' of the Masonic Lodge until he retired in 1989.
Mr. Weinkauf was a member of the Portage Masonic Lodge 675 and a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite in South Bend Consistory. He received the MSA Meritorious Service Award in 1978. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Toastmasters International, where he held various offices, and also held offices in the district and state Toastmasters International.
While doing volunteer work at First United Methodist Church of Mishawaka, he served as business manager. For years he was active in the Republican Party, as vice president of Penn Township and treasurer of the Mishawaka Penn Republican Club. He also served as treasurer of the ''XYZ'' Club at Coalbush United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, Ind., where friends may call from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15. (nf)
