Elmer Weinkauf, 65, of 1120 E. Dayton, died of a heart attack at 6:08 p.m. Sunday in St. Josephs Medical Center. He retired from Uniroyal in 1980.
He was born Sept. 2, 1917, in Mishawaka, and was a lifetime area resident. On Feb. 15, 1939, in Mishawaka, he married Catherine Heintzberger, who survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Roman (Ruth) Sims, of Mishawaka; two sons, Richard F. of Lulling, La., and Edward E. of Niles; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Lillian Cook, of Oceanside, Calif.; and a brother, Wilfred Weinkauf, of Mishawaka.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home in Mishawaka. He was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral, the Holy Name Society, Uniroyal Mens Club, the Mishawaka Knights of Columbus 1878, and Father Neuland General Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church.
