Adam A. Weinkauf

Dec. 24, 1839 – Mar. 13, 1932

Adam A. Weinkauf, age 92, resident of Mishawaka 60 years, nearly all of which were spent in the same residence at 707 East Fourth street, died at 8:30 o’clock Sunday evening in his home.  Infirmities of old age cased his death after a critical illness of four weeks. 

 

Born Dec. 24, 1839 in Byron, Germany, he came to the United States in 1871 and almost immediately moved to this city. 

 

He was married to Miss Magdelene Elbet in August 1872, the late Rev. A. B. Oechtering, pastor of St. Joseph’s Catholic church performing the ceremony.  She died in 1916. 

 

Mr. Weinkauf was employed by the Dodge Manufacturing corporation 45 years and was a member of the Dodge Quarter-Century club.  Previous to that, he worked for the old Milburn Wagon works, the Studebaker Wagon works and the Kamm & Schellinger Brewing company. 

 

Mr. Weinkauf was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic church, for 50 years a member of St. Joseph’s society and also the Holy Name society of St. Joseph’s parish.

 

Four children survive; Mrs. Paul Knoblick, Andrew and John Weinkauf, all of Mishawaka, and Mrs. Kunigunda McGarrity, at the Fourth street address. 

 

Fifteen grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive.

A recitation of the rosary will be made Tuesday evening at 7:30 o’clock in St. Joseph’s church.  Funeral rites will be announced later.

Adam A. Weinkauf

Funeral services for Adam A. Weinkauf, age 92, Mishawaka resident for 60 years, the most of which were spent in the same residence at 707 E. Fourth street, who died Sunday evening, will be conducted from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic church Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock.  Rev. Felix Seroczynski will officiate and burial will be made in St. Joseph’s cemetery.  Six of his 15 grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

 

Pallbearers will be six of his 15 grandchildren including Samuel, William and Paul, Jr. Weinkauf, Rudolph, Adolph and Adam Knoblock.
