Chester
Michael "Chet" Wegenka, 77, passed away at 11
a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, in his residence.
He
was born in South Bend, Ind., on Nov. 2, 1923. Mr.
Wegenka retired from the A.M. General Corporation in 1986
after 22 years of service. He also was employed with the
former Studebaker Corporation for 18 years.
On
May 4, 1957, he married Marjorie Ullery, who survives. He
is also survived by a brother-in-law, James (June)
Ullery; a sister-in-law, Martha Wegenka; and by several
nieces and nephews, and adopted grandchildren.
Mr.
Wegenka was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernice
Morra and Dorothy Wegenka; and by two brothers, Joseph
and Clem.
Family
and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on
Friday in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower
Road. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the
funeral home. The American Legion Pulaski Post #357 will
conduct the military service. Cremation will follow, and
entombment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Mr.
Wegenka was a veteran of World War II and served in the
Navy from March 25, 1943, until January 25, 1946, on the
U.S.S. Fanning. He was a member of American Legion
Pulaski Post #357, the Forty and Eight, and was a
lifetime member of the Disabled American Veteran #6. He
was a bowler and golfer, and loved playing cards.
In

Street, South Bend, IN 46619; and to the Forty and Eight.
