Ronald Keith Weesner
Ronald Keith Weesner, 74, of Birch Lake, Vandalia, Michigan, formerly of Carmel, Indiana, died on Friday, November 17, in his home of complications of diabetes.
He was born in South Bend to Russell and Edith Weesner and was one of 16 children. Keith was married to Dennese (Denny) Horvath on June 26th, 1954. They have one daughter, Ronda Eshleman (Gary), and two grandchildren, Jason Eshleman and Jamie Eshleman of Carmel, Indiana. He is also survived by one brother, Larry Weesner (Ruth); and six sisters, Marg Cheerheart, Shirley Lanoo, Nancy Green (Delbert) and Noreen Webb, all of South Bend, Alma Turner (Larry) of Houston, Texas, and Jean Spagnolo of Bradenton Florida. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Mac, Hilton, Merrill, Russell, Bill and Dennis; and two sisters, Lucy Harder and Joyce Ruch.
He was a member of the Sigma Nu National Social Fraternity, the Indiana Football Coaches Association and the National Athletic Directors Association. Keith was a teacher and coach in the Washington Township School System for over 30 years. The last 10 years he served as athletic director. Although football was his first love, he was given an award from the City of Indianapolis from then-mayor Richard Lugar for his outstanding contributions in the area of track and field. He also served on the Board of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.
Friends may call at the McGann Hay Funerals Cremation Gatherings, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23 (enter off Cherry Road), Granger, IN, this afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. A memorial service will be held in Indianapolis on Monday evening at 6 p.m. in St. Luke's Methodist Church, 100 W. 86th Street. There will be visitation two hours before the service in church.
