SOUTH BEND - David E. Weberg, 62, of South Bend, formerly
of St. Joseph, MI, passed away on December 17, 2008, in his
residence after an extended illness. Mr. Weberg was born on
August 6, 1946, in Chicago, IL, and resided in the South Bend
area since 1998, coming from St. Joseph, MI. Mr. Weberg opened
the first restaurant in St. Joseph, MI, with a brick patio area
outside over looking the lake. He also taught school in Southern
Illinois and enjoyed his high school teaching. He retired from
Cissco Foods as a salesman. David was a veteran of the U.S. Army
and served during the Vietnam Era. He is survived by his loving
mother, Gloria D. Weberg of St. Joseph, MI; two daughters,
Kristin N. Weberg of Manchester, NH, and Erika L. Weberg of New
Orleans, LA; two sisters, Christina A. (Timothy) Irvin of
Idledale, CO, and Mary J. Weberg of Denver, CO. Also surviving
are four brothers, Brian J. Weberg of Lakewood, CO, Wayne R.
(Ann) Weberg of St. Joseph, MI, Thomas C. Weberg of Littleton,
CO, and Patrick N. Weberg of Magnolia, Texas. Several nieces and
nephews also survive. Mr. Weberg was an avid sports fan,
excellent hockey player and loved baseball. David was preceded in
death by his father, Clifton E. Weberg. Mr. Weberg's
wishes were to be cremated, which was honored by his family.
Their will be no visitation or services at this time. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The family request that all memorial contributions be made to the Center for the Homeless, 813 So. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN 46601. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and extend its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Weberg family.
