SOUTH BEND - Joseph J. Wayer, 77, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2008, in his residence. Joseph was born on July 20, 1930, in South Bend, to Edward and Marie (Sabinas) Wayer. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Gerald and Edward; and a sister, Arita Leonard.

On April 19, 1952, Joseph married Jean A. Karman, who survives along with sons, Joseph J. Wayer Jr. and Thomas Wayer; a daughter, Linda (Robert) Molnar, all of South Bend; along with five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Joseph worked at Honeywell as a painter for over 34 years, retiring in 1986. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 until 1951. Joseph loved fishing, walking, golf ball hunting, nature and animals.

Private services will be held for the family in ST JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Road, South Bend, IN 46614. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
