Mary A. Wawrzynczak, 90, passed away after a lengthy illness at 10:25 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12, in the St. Joseph Care Center West. Mary was born on Aug. 27, 1909, in Krakow, Poland, to the late John and Aueralia (Markowski) Golba. On Sept. 1, 1928, in Mishawaka, Ind., Mary married Henry P. Wawrzynczak, who preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 1989.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Deloras (Leo) Bloom of South Bend, Ind., and Shirley (James) Bloom of Lakeville, Ind.; a son, Robert (Mary) Wawrzynczak of Richland, Mich.; 10 grandchildren, Linda (Lyle) Stahly and Cathy Taylor of Indianapolis, Ind., Deb Bloom, Sharon (Mike) Ransom and David Bloom of South Bend, Jim (Anita) Bloom of Bremen, Sue (Larry) Walls of Tennessee, Mark (Chris) Bloom of Lakeville, and Tim and Andria Wawrzynczak, both of Richland; 11 great-grandchildren, Jason, Matt, Mike and A.J. Stahly, Abby, Orianna and Seth Taylor, Melissa, Larry, Jr., and Dawn and Alicia Walls; a sister, Genevieve (Bud) Juday of Mishawaka; and by a brother, Stanley Golba of Bradenton, Fla. Mary retired in 1970 from the Ave Maria Press. She was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral in South Bend.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 15, in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 16, in St. Matthew Cathedral. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Northern Indiana Chapter, 425 N.
